What this site is
Melodic Folds is a crease pattern library. Every entry is a fold sequence written out step by step, drawn as a two-tone crease pattern, and dated. Nothing here is a scan of an existing book: the diagrams are generated from the fold list in each record, so the drawing and the written steps cannot drift apart.
How the library is published
Patterns are written in batches and released on a schedule. Around a third are live at launch and the rest follow every few days, which is why the list on the home page grows rather than arriving complete. A pattern that is not listed has not been withheld — it simply has not come due.
Notation
The site uses two families of marks. Mountain-family creases are drawn in red, valley-family creases in deep blue, and the dash pattern distinguishes the individual folds inside each family. The glossary explains every mark, how the fold is made, and the failure it most often causes.
Who writes it
Every entry on this site is written and drawn by The Origami Desk, the editorial desk behind Melodic Folds. Corrections are welcome and are usually folded into the next revision of a record rather than published as an erratum.
